Getting There

Rigi is easily accessible by public transport from Lucerne, Zurich and other parts of Switzerland.

Visitors can reach the mountain by train to Arth-Goldau for the cogwheel railway, to Vitznau for the historic cogwheel railway from Lake Lucerne, or to Weggis for the aerial cable car to Rigi Kaltbad.

These convenient connections provide several scenic ways to reach the mountain, making Rigi an easy and memorable excursion from Lucerne and Central Switzerland.

TRAIN

Rigi can be reached by car from Lucerne, Zurich and other parts of Central Switzerland. The journey to the main mountain access points is straightforward via the Swiss road network.

Visitors travelling by car can drive to Arth-Goldau, Vitznau or Weggis, where parking is available near the respective mountain railway or cable car stations. From these locations, visitors can continue their journey to Rigi by mountain transport.

During busy periods, especially in summer and on weekends, arriving early is recommended as parking spaces near the mountain stations can fill up quickly.

CAR

Rigi is easily accessible by public transport from Lucerne and other parts of Central Switzerland.

Visitors can travel by train to Arth-Goldau for the cogwheel railway, to Vitznau for the historic cogwheel railway, or to Weggis for the aerial cable car to Rigi Kaltbad. All three routes provide convenient access to the mountain.

Public transport is a convenient option for visiting Rigi without a car, especially during busy periods when traffic and parking around the mountain stations can be limited.

BUS

Rigi can be combined with a scenic Lake Lucerne boat cruise, making the journey to the mountain part of the experience.

Visitors can travel by boat from Lucerne to Vitznau during the operating season and continue to Rigi by the historic cogwheel railway. Alternatively, boats can connect Lucerne with Weggis, where the aerial cable car continues to Rigi Kaltbad.

This combination offers a memorable Lake Lucerne boat cruise, mountain railway journey and panoramic Alpine experience, making Rigi one of the most scenic mountain excursions from Lucerne.

BOAT
